Valentine's Shopping Tips
Valentine's is a great day to send something to someone you love. Whether you send a sentimental (or humorous) greeting card or flowers to your sweetheart, friends, or family members, you may have a difficult time to decide what to give. I was a bit surprised to learn that, in general, American men outspend women 2 to 1 on Valentine's Day gifts. Typical gifts to be considered for Valentine's Day are: flowers, candy, chocolate, dinner, a night out, jewelry, etc. Regardless what you're getting, keep these in mind:
Be Creative
If you can, be creative and humorous. There're things you can do without spending a whole lot. Plan a romantic picnic, put a note on the TV to say 'turn me on', etc. Or, prepare your loved one a favorite dinner and serve it on a romantically set table and dine by candlelight. Whatever you can think of, it's your ideas.
Shop and Order Early
Candy and flowers can be ordered online these days and be sent to a distant location. Many florists offer specials or discounts when you book your purchase in advance of the Valentine's Day. Early ordering means the shop has ample time to pack and fulfill online orders. As time approaches, the shipping cost will rise if you postpone and need a rush delivery. Pre-order ahead of time is a great idea to play safe.
Add Gift Wrapping
Gift wrapping might not be necessary for other occasions, but for Valentine's Day, spend a few more bucks to get the gifts wrapped nicely. Choose from the merchants that are good at this so no cheap looking. Our advice is to stretch a few bucks further to get things wrapped.
Personalized or Create Your Own
Many merchants specialized in offering personalized gifts. When shopping from an online store, look for personalized gifts or section where you can create your own Valentine gifts to express the love of your personality.
